Your guide for admissions in Military Engineering Colleges

The AIEEE score and the IIT-JEE score have been declared.  The MHT-CET results will also be announced shortly.  The XII Board results are also declared.  The youth and the parents will be extremely busy with the admission process and the process is quite cumbersome.
Process for admission to Engineering in Army/Navy is quite simple. The notification is published in Employment News. One has to adhere to the information mentioned in the notification and apply, if eligible. Select lot of shortlisted candidates will be called for SSB Interviews.
SSB interview procedure. 
The interviews for Army are conducted at Bhopal, Bangalore or Allahabad Centres whereas for Navy the interviews are conducted at Bangalore, Bhopal or Coimbatore in Aug/Sep 2010.  The total duration of interview is five days, consisting Stage I (One day) and State II (Four days).  State I consist of Intelligence Test, Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PPDT).  Candidates who qualify Stage I move to Stage II which consists of Psychological Tests, Group task tests and Interview. Candidates who are recommended by SSB are found medically fit, as decided by Military hospital authorities, will be appointed for training in the order of All Indian Merit prepared on the basis of SSB marks, depending on the number of vacancies.  
Pay and perks.
Basic pay for a newly commissioned officer in the rank of Sub Lieutenant of Navy/ Lieutenant of Army is Rs 15,600 Grade Pay Rs 5,400 and Military Service Pay of Rs 6,000.  After addition of DA, Technical pay and other allowances, the salary is about Rs 40,000 per month.  Benefits like medical facilities for self and dependents, canteen facilities, furnished govt accommodation, 60 days of annual leave, 20 days casual leave, facility to pursue sport of your liking, etc are entitled. The salary of a newly commissioned officer is 12 Lakhs CTC.
