Amazing child artist
 |
Anirudh Kannan This kid isn't much older than four-and-a-half years old and he already paints like Picasso. Oh yeah, don't be surprised as this little one -- Anirudh Kannan of Bethany School, Koramangala -- does painting with his fingers and not with brush. His paintings are all in abstract forms and some contemporary with bold strokes, all of which contain proper shading and lightening. His latest work has some form or shape of objects/living things, etc. and even better than his previous paintings. At one point he even mixes colours, yet somehow manages to continue painting only with a pure shade of a colour or two. Just visit his house in Koramangala 5th Block near Ganesh temple; even the walls have scribbling and splash of colours. Apparently, he began painting when he was just three years old. Self taught in the form of art and his works are amazing. Today he has a collection of about 50, but his parents have selected about 15 and framed them. During the last summer holidays, his parents had put him at a summer camp run by Active Canvass of Jayanagar 1st Block. On seeing his talent, many of his works were put on display in their gallery for nearly a month in Jayanagar. How he learnt painting is itself interesting. Normally, it will be a tough time for any parent to make their little ones feed them as they are bound to play and refrain from taking food. Like any toddler who refuses to take food, Anirudh's parents too had to tell stories, divert attention, sing a song, etc., all to make him eat. On such occasions once they showed him a set of crayons and sketch pens to divert his attention. This made Anirudh learn different types of colours and identify them. Soon he began to scribble with them. Be it on paper or wall. So one day he asked for poster colours and using his fingers he just painted an abstract which did draw the attention of his parents and some guests. From that day onwards, his parents supported him and Anirudh went on to record his imagination in colour. "Like any other child Anirudh too is playful. But when he has the mood to paint he finishes it off in just 10 to 15 minutes. Sometimes he does two or three works at a time. It all depends on how he likes it and no one interferes. He has a good colour sense," said his father Kannan. "Sometimes he uses bold strokes like an expert," said his mother Aarti Kannan. Other than painting he likes dancing. Dainik Jagran Cityplus wishes him a bright future. —Akshaya Deva |
