| Trees to be planted on all vacant plots: Ganesh Naik |
Repeated caution notices and warnings given by authorities not to dump garbage and other waste or building materials in vacant plots near residential areas have gone unheeded. Various construction materials, durable and non-durable goods can be seen littered on vacant plots in Vashi, Nerul and Belapur localities.
Some of the plots are reserved and some are yet to be taken in possession by NMMC. Till then such plots remain major headaches for area residents.

| HJS appeals for clay idols of Ganesh |
The Hindu Janjagruti Samiti (HJS) has demanded that Ganesh devotees must use idols made of clay instead of paper mache and immerse them in flowing, natural water.
Shivaji Vatkar, spokesperson of HJS says, "Making eco-friendly Ganesh idols from waste paper, garbage, unwanted objects is against Hindu Dharma".
