Car pooling is the best bet in city
 |
Whether you're behind the wheel or just riding along, car pooling is a sensible idea. Not only economical , it is also environmentally sound. Sudhir kapoor, general secretary, DLF City RWA says, "Car pooling is a better option to solve traffic problems of the city. We have car pooling options on our website with a company called http://www.easy2commute.com/. Residents are responding well to the concept. It is the need of the hour to save fuel, reduce pollution and ultimately reduce traffic hurdles". Driven by the motivation to save oil, reduce carbon emissions, ease traffic and make life easier for commuters, two professionals Ambrish Bajaj and Abhishek Rajan, developed the green initiative of Easy2commute.com. It is a secure carpool solution for corporates in Delhi-NCR. Companies also benefit from car pooling as their employees are saved from the effort of driving everyday and there is less pressure on parking lots. Ambrish and Abhishek hope that by providing the service for free, more daily travelers would benefit from this site and reduce 'carbon footprint' of Delhi-NCR region. "Delhi-NCR has more cars than all other metros put together. With most cars being single driven, the environment is one of the biggest sufferers, besides our roads. Every day, 900-1,000 new vehicles roll out on Delhi's roads, of which, 250-300 are cars. Of the 60 lakh vehicles registered in Delhi, 18.60 lakh are cars and jeeps while 38 lakh are two-wheelers. In a nutshell, the ever growing traffic and parking problems are a pain for the environment and the administration," says Ambrish. The commuters are happy to get car pooling done so that they do not face much inconvenience due to traffic. "Car pooling is better than travelling in buses and auto in the city. Most of the areas in the city have no transport. So this is certainly the best bet," says Pragati Sinha, IT professional and resident of DLF II. |
