Sector 36 residents, a troubled lot due to authorities' apathy
 |
Residents of Sector 36 have been facing a lot of problems due to the laying of Ganga water pipeline in the area. According to the complaints of the residents, the contractor who has been assigned the work has gone away without finishing the work and now the residents are struggling with mud and water-logging after rains. Sector 36 has five blocks A, B, C, D and E in which bungalows and luxury apartments are located. As the underground water in the area is very hard, Noida Authority had decided to supply Ganga water in this area. For this purpose, Noida Authority hired a contractor to lay separate pipeline for Ganga water in the area. Chandra Paul Singh Bhasin, a resident of Sector 36, said, "Noida Authority had laid tiles on the corners of the roads in whole sector but the concerned contractor uprooted them for laying pipeline. When residents confronted him in this regard, he assured that he would lay the tiles again after laying pipeline but he didn't keep the promise. Moreover, he did not also fill pits with soil properly, which were dug up for pipeline and now these pits are creating problems for residents as rain water has filled into them." Prem Kumar Sharma, another resident of the same sector said, "On last Sunday, my car was trapped in one of the pits. I had to call up the crane service to get my car pulled out. We complained against this to officials of concerned authority, but they have not taken any action against contractor in this regard." NA, PRO Jameel Ahmad said, "Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam is seeing the Ganga water related work. We have informed them about this problem." —Rohit babbar |
