Two close bus stops add to traffic chaos
 |
Two bus stops which are located very close to each other have been troubling residents for a long time. These bus stops are less than 200 metres away on a narrow road near Sarja Hotel which has been frequently causing traffic chaos and adding to the problems of the commuters especially in peak hours. The road from Parihar Chowk to Baner Phata experiences a lot of vehicular movement throughout the day. This distance of 2.5 km sees variation in the size of the road. The road from Parihar Chowk to Ozone Mall is quite wide and doesn't experience traffic jam but the road gets narrower from Ozone Mall to Baner Phata. This 750 metre distance experiences severe traffic problems with the two close bus stops adding to the problem. Police in-charge ASI Sunil Pandharkar said, "A number of letters have been sent to Swargate bus depot. We are waiting for their reply. Every day, I have to send a person here to ease the traffic situation during peak hours. Either, the bus stop should be shifted or removed from here." KL Shah, a commuter said, "These bus stops have been certainly troubling the motorists who use this road." It is also inconvenient for the bus driver to stop again and again for such a short distance on this smaller road from where there is even little space to overtake the bus. Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited PRO DA Pardeshi said, "I will personally go and check this issue as we have to look at the commuters convenience. The problem of traffic chaos is due to the super fast development of the area. We can't be blamed for this." — Poorva Bhise |
