Residents group organise a friendly cricket match

A friendly cricket match was organised by Progressive Residents' Group - DLF II between the South of Akashneem Marg comprising of Blocks J, K, L and L Extn vs the North of Akashneem Marg comprising M, N, P and Q blocks. T "The Progressive Residents' Group is a newly formed group of residents who want to promote good, peaceful harmonious living in DLF II with specific aim to organize social, cultural and Sports functions. The newly christened North South Cup is intended to be an annual feature with a running trophy which will be kept in the newly constructed Community Centre in DLF II," said Umesh Gupta. Oxigen was the sponsor for the match. The match was held in the M14 Grounds in DLF II and was 25 over each side match. More than 50 entries came from residents to play in the match. The day started early with perfect conditions to play a great match. The match started at 10am with the South winning the toss and sending North to bat first. They concluded their innings at 210 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their quota of 25 overs with Gaurav top scoring with 86 runs scored at a brisk rate. Harish got the best bowler award for his 3 wickets for a miserly 25 runs in 4 over while Sahil won the best batsman award. Gaurav won the match of the match award for excellent all round performance of 86 runs and picking up 2 wickets. Ashok Mahindru, a prominent industrialist and resident of DLF II gave the best bowler and best batsman award while Rajpal Duggal, director of Oxigen gave away the 'Man of the Match' and the winner's trophy, 'The North South Cup' to the captain and vice captain of the of the North team, Ayush and Hemant. |
